Terms & Conditions

Last Updated: 15 March 2025  |  Effective Date: 15 March 2025

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Ravencourt website at ravencourt ("the Website") and any enquiries or engagements you enter into with Ravencourt ("we", "us", "our"), a legal services firm registered in Malaysia and operating from 35 Jalan Dang Wangi, 50100 Kuala Lumpur.

By using the Website or submitting an enquiry, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please refrain from using the Website.

2. Nature of Information on This Website

The content published on this Website is provided for general informational purposes only. It does not constitute legal advice and should not be relied upon as such. Every legal matter is fact-specific, and the information on this Website may not apply to your particular circumstances.

Nothing on this Website creates a solicitor-client relationship. A formal engagement is only established upon the execution of a written engagement letter signed by an authorised representative of Ravencourt.

If you require legal advice, we encourage you to contact us directly so that your specific situation can be assessed by a qualified member of our team.

3. Permitted Use of This Website

You agree to use this Website only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of others. You must not:

  • Use the Website in any way that is unlawful, misleading, or harmful
  • Transmit unsolicited commercial communications
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Website or its supporting systems
  • Upload or transmit material that contains viruses, malware, or other harmful code
  • Collect or harvest personal data of other users without authority
  • Reproduce, duplicate, or copy Website content for commercial purposes without our written consent

We reserve the right to restrict or terminate access to the Website for any user who we reasonably believe has violated these Terms.

4. Enquiries and Contact Forms

When you submit an enquiry through our Website contact form, you acknowledge that:

  • The submission does not create a solicitor-client relationship
  • The information you submit may be reviewed by members of our team to assess whether and how we are able to assist
  • We will handle your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy
  • We are not obligated to respond to all enquiries, including those that fall outside our areas of practice or where a conflict of interest exists

Please do not submit confidential or sensitive information through the enquiry form. Confidentiality obligations to you arise only upon execution of a formal engagement letter.

5. Client Engagements

Where we agree to act for you, the specific terms of that engagement — including scope, fees, and obligations on both sides — will be set out in an engagement letter. In the event of any inconsistency between these Terms and the engagement letter, the engagement letter shall prevail.

Our professional obligations are governed by the Legal Profession Act 1976 (Malaysia) and the rules and guidelines of the Malaysian Bar. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes obligations arising from those professional standards.

6. Fees and Payment

The indicative service prices published on this Website represent starting points and are subject to the specific circumstances of each matter. Final fees are confirmed in the engagement letter following an initial assessment.

All quoted fees are in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) and are exclusive of any applicable taxes, government fees, disbursements, or third-party charges unless stated otherwise. Payments are due in accordance with the terms specified in the engagement letter.

7. Intellectual Property

All content on this Website — including text, graphics, logos, layout, and code — is the intellectual property of Ravencourt or its licensors and is protected under applicable Malaysian and international intellectual property law.

You may view and print content from this Website for personal, non-commercial reference only. You must not reproduce, modify, distribute, or otherwise exploit any Website content without our prior written consent.

8. Third-Party Links

This Website may contain links to third-party websites for informational convenience. We do not endorse, control, or accept responsibility for the content, privacy practices, or availability of those sites. Accessing linked third-party sites is at your own discretion and risk.

9. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

This Website and its content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While we make reasonable efforts to keep information accurate and current, we do not warrant that the Website will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fully up to date at all times.

To the extent permitted by law, Ravencourt shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of or reliance on this Website or its contents. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under Malaysian law, including liability for fraud or wilful misconduct.

These disclaimers apply to Website use only and do not affect the professional duties owed to clients under a formal engagement.

10. Pre-Engagement Confidentiality

Information you share with us prior to a formal engagement is not automatically subject to legal professional privilege. We will, however, handle pre-engagement communications with appropriate discretion and in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Confidentiality protections under our professional obligations apply once a formal engagement is in place. If you have concerns about the sensitivity of information you wish to discuss, we encourage you to contact us by telephone before submitting it electronically.

11. Conflict of Interest

We maintain procedures to identify and manage potential conflicts of interest. If we determine that a conflict prevents us from acting for you, we will inform you as promptly as reasonably possible. In such cases, we may be unable to provide specific reasons for the conflict, but we will endeavour to signpost appropriate alternative resources where possible.

12. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and any dispute arising from them shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia. You and Ravencourt each agree to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia in relation to any claim or dispute arising under these Terms.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services, legal requirements, or Website functionality. Updates will be published on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the Website following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

We encourage you to review this page periodically. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will make reasonable efforts to draw your attention to the update through a notice on the Website.
